Injuries to the large weight-supporting flexor tendons and suspensory ligament are a serious matter for the equine athlete. The signs of a tendon or ligament injury include:
- Sudden lameness from subtle to severe
- Heat
- Swelling
- Sensitivity to palpation
We use high-resolution ultrasound to detect and quantify these injuries. A number of new therapies have aided in the healing of these injuries. We use the following therapies routinely at Mission Equine:
- ProStride
- Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ECST)
- Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy
- Stem Cell Therapy
- High Intensity Laser Therapy
