Steven J. Goss, DVM
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Following high school, I was fortunate to spend a year as a foreign exchange student in Sweden. Upon my return I began the journey toward becoming a veterinarian. I attended Cal State Hayward for two years then transferred to Rutgers University to continue my education while also training with the U.S. National team in Team Handball. After competing in 1984 Olympic Games, I started Veterinary School at UC Davis. I realized early on that I enjoyed equine medicine and surgery. The 1988 Olympics arrived closely on the heels of graduation, followed by a year in Spain playing professionally. Eager to put my veterinary skills into practice I returned to the States and joined a busy multi-doctor equine hospital in Apple Valley, California. I purchased South Coast Equine Practice in 1990, and my wife and I spent the last 32 years working and raising our three children in the beautiful Santa Barbara community. I enjoy traveling and e-biking with my wife, fly fishing, hiking, gardening and making my own beer. I am excited to be part of Mission Equine Associates.
